Board of Directors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $150 million loan to the Uzbek government to modernize the electricity metering system in country's regions, a source at the ADB Tashkent office told Trend on Tuesday.
The loan will be allocated from the ordinary resources of the Bank for 25 years, including a five-year grace period. The loan agreement will be signed at the end of 2011.
The project worth $200 million envisages the purchase and installation of one million units of electricity metering in networks of 0.4 kW in three regions of the country - Bukhara, Jizak and Samarkand. Project implementation period is three years.
In addition to ADB's loan, the project will be funded by the Government of Uzbekistan in amount of $50 million.
