Ukraine, Azerbaijan may increase potential for using renewable energy

Ukraine and Azerbaijan can develop cooperation in the field of alternative energy, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov told Trend.

“Baku is a city of winds and this is a great potential for the development of wind energy,” the deputy prime minister added.

"Solar and wind energy is also developing in Ukraine,” Reznikov added. “Azerbaijan and Ukraine can cooperate both in increasing production capacity and in selling energy to the foreign markets."

The export from Azerbaijan to Ukraine amounted to $117.9 million from January through February 2021, which is 34.1 percent more compared to the period from January through February 2020.

Thus, the share of Ukraine in total Azerbaijani export increased from 2.71 percent to 4.23 percent.

At the same time, the import of Ukrainian products to Azerbaijan for the year decreased from $60.7 million to $60.5 million (by 0.3 percent).

The share of Ukraine in total Azerbaijani import from January through February 2021 amounted to 3.76 percent compared to 3.4 percent in the same period of last year.

The volume of foreign trade operations between the two countries from January through February 2021 reached $178.5 million, which is 20 percent more compared to the period from January through February 2020.
