The Azerbaijani thermal power plants (TPPs) generated 17.4 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from January through August 2021, which is by 5.7 percent or 994.2 million kilowatt-hours more than in the same period of last year, Trend reports on Sept. 24 citing the Azerbaijani energy ministry.
"The Azerbaijani wind power plants produced 58.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, solar power plants - 38 million kilowatt-hours, the power station of the solid waste disposal plant - 139.2 million kilowatt-hours during the reporting period," the message says.
The production of electricity reached 25.8 billion kilowatt-hours in Azerbaijan in 2020.
At the same time, the generation of electricity by TPPs amounted to 24.4 billion kilowatt-hours (an increase of 12.4 percent compared to 2019), wind power plants - 1.06 billion kilowatt-hours, solar power plants - 46.9 million, the power station of a solid waste disposal plant - 200.6 million kilowatt-hours.
