IRICA shares details of Iran’s trade turnover with Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 16

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran's trade turnover with Azerbaijan amounted to 266,000 tons worth $140 million during the first four months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through July 22, 2021), Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi told Trend.

According to Latifi, Iran imported 8,000 tons of goods worth $10 million from Azerbaijan over the 4 months.

“Moreover, Iran exported 258,000 tons of goods worth about $130 million to Azerbaijan within the mentioned period,” he added.

The spokesman noted that Azerbaijan ranks second in Iran's trade with the Caspian littoral states.

“So, Iran's trade turnover with the Caspian littoral states amounted to 2.18 million tons worth about $948 million in the four months. Thus, Iran exported 1.3 million tons of goods worth $465 million to the Caspian littoral states, while imported 874,000 tons of goods worth $482 million,” the official said.

Latifi stressed that as a result of US sanctions against Iran, Iran's imports are limited. Only the essential products and equipment are easily imported into the country. According to this, Iran’s import from Azerbaijan is little.
