Cotton sowing progresses in Turkmen Akhal region

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23

By Jeila Aliyeva - Trend:

Cotton-growers of Turkmenistan’s Kaakhkinsky district of the Akhal region have completed the sowing of cotton, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenportal information portal.

Some 23,400 hectares of cotton was collected, which is 4,000 more than it was last year.

Compared to last year, this year all field work was completed ahead of time. At the same time, early completion of field work does did not degrade the quality. Thus, the decree of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on increasing state purchasing prices for wheat and cotton, that was adopted last year, became a special incentive for labor, because it allowed farmers to increase their income.

Since cotton growing is one of the leading branches of agriculture in Turkmenistan, special attention is paid to it, as local farmers are trying to contribute to sustainable development of this sector.

The latest modifications of equipment that best suits the country's soil and climate conditions are purchased. Work is underway to digitalize agriculture and introduce advanced agricultural technologies.
