( dpa ) - Voter turnout in Spain's parliamentary elections Sunday appeared fairly high, a factor which could favour Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero's Socialists, analysts said.

Turnout was 61.05 per cent at 6 pm (1700 GMT), officials said.

It was, however, lower than the turnout of about 63 per cent at the same time in 2004.
