Another local politician in Juarez fell to murderer's bullets Thursday with the killing of Patricia Avila Hernandez, the lead city council member of this violence-plagued city on the US border.
Earlier this week, another local politician, Cristina Aranda, was killed, dpa reported.
In the early morning hours, the bodies of four more murder victims were found in the city.
Hernandez, 36, was killed in a drive-by shooting as she came out of a store onto the street.
Together with Tijuana and Culiacan, Ciudad Juarez belongs to the most dangerous cities in Mexico.
Drug wars claimed 1,600 lives in Juarez alone in 2008, a good portion of the nationwide toll of 3,600 estimated to have been killed in the violent drug trade.
