Sevilla soccer club confirmed the signing of defender Martin Caceres from FC Barcelona this Saturday, Xinhua reported.
The 23-year-old Uruguayan will play on loan from Barcelona for the current season and Sevilla have the option to then buy the player, who would have a four-year contract.
Caceres signed for Barcelona in the summer of 2008, but struggled to adapt at the Camp Nou, making only 13 first team appearances in his first season.
He recovered his form on loan at Italian side, Juventus last season, but didn't enter into the plans of Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola for the current campaign.
Caceres is the second central defender that Sevilla has signed in the past week and arrives at the club hot on the heels of Alexis, who joined the club from Valencia on Wednesday in a deal worth around 6.5 million dollars.
