Afghan official says NATO forces came under attack first

An Afghan military official said Sunday that NATO coalition forces had struck Pakistani border posts after coming under attack from the Pakistani side first, DPA reported.

The NATO airstrikes killed 24 Pakistani soldiers and caused renewed tension between the United States, NATO and Pakistan.

"The international forces were attacked first from an area near to the Pakistani paramilitary checkpoint. So they called for an airstrike," said the official, who asked not to be named.
