Sealing Turkey's long border with Syria is neither possible nor ethical, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has said, speaking in an interview published by the British daily The Times on Jan. 22.
"We can close the border, but who will save the refugees, who will give them a safe haven?" Davutoglu reportedly said, referring to the over 1.5 million Syrian refugees in Turkey.
"All those people who are escaping by foot, should we close the border to them? Is that ethically acceptable?" he continued, adding: "It's a 937-kilometer border, it's impossible to do. We can't put a soldier on every inch."
