During the meeting of Milli Majlis on December 26, the Chairman of the Civil Solidarity Party, Member of Parliament, Sabir Rustamkhanli, raised the question of the right of Milli Majlis to grant a pardon. Rustamkhanli said that Milli Majlis has such authority.
Presently there are many people who are sentenced due to light crimes. Their crimes are not so heinous that they are detained in the prisons for such a long period. It would be better, if Milli Majlis used its right to make a pardon decision, said Rustamkhanli.
In reply, the Chairman of Milli Majlis, Oktay Asadov, said that presently the question is being studied. In relation with this, Milli Majlis received an appeal, and presently studies are being carried out and information will be provided, said Mr. Asadov.
