Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend S.Agayeva / The President of Maldives, Mamoon Abdul Gayyum, invited his Azerbaijani counterpart to visit the Maldives. The invitation was sent to the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Maldives, Tamerlan Garayev, who submitted his credentials to the State Head on 20 August.
The Ambassador reported from Mala by telephone that during the Ambassador's meeting with the President and the Foreign Minister of Maldives, both parties exchanged views on the future co-operation of the two countries in various mutually beneficial spheres.
In addition, special attention was paid to the bilateral co-operation within the international organizations. According to him, the President of Maldives once again supported the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
"We have therefore decided to arrange a visit by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, to the Maldives. A protocol on consultation between the Foreign Ministries is expected to be signed," Garayev said.
