A "green" power plant may be installed in the Baku international sea trade port, the Chairman of Azalternativenerji LLC under the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources Agshin Bekirzade told Trend.

"The Baku port has asked us to consider the possibility of providing the port with electricity partially or completely by means of renewable sources of energy. Now we are working on this project," Bekirzade said.

"Currently, we are installing meteorological observation stations at the Baku port. They will record wind speed and other indicators. Depending on these indicators, we will know which turbines to install. There are a lot of nuances, because of which it is too early to talk about the cost of the project," Bekirzade said.

The capacity of the energy system of Azerbaijan is more than 6,000 megawatts. At the same time, according to experts, the potential of renewable energy sources in the country is more than 25,300 megawatts. Most of the country's potential in this area falls on solar energy.
