Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Saeed Jalili once again on Friday reiterated Iran's right to having access to peaceful nuclear energy within the framework of non-proliferation treaty (NPT), IRNA reported.

Jalili made the remarks at a press conference held in Iran's Embassy in New Delhi on Wednesday.

'Iran as a NPT member-state stresses its right to fully benefit from its nuclear rights while at the same time maintaining its role as an active member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Non-Proliferation treaty (NPT),' he added.

Jalili noted that IAEA inspectors have visited Iran's nuclear activities more than 5,000 times in the past several years.

He said that IAEA chief has also mentioned 25 times in his reports that there is not even a document which is indicative of Iran's deviation from its path of peaceful nuclear activities.

Criticizing US policies, Jalili said US nuclear behavior has shown that Washington is the only nuclear offender in the world and the only government which has used nuclear weapons against innocent people.

'US has the most nuclear weapons in the world and is now studying on the new generations of these arms,' said Jalili.

He added that Iran told IAEA 2 years ago that US is accused of nuclear proliferation. 'What country has provided the Israel with nuclear weapons? According to published documents, which have been given to the IAEA, around 40 years ago, more than 130 kg of highly enriched uranium was lost in the United States.'

On Iran India relations and US pressures, Jalili said countries now decide independently and the time has passed when certain countries decided for others.

'US has always claimed that free market and democracy are two accepted principles in its foreign policy but they work against these principles. Deciding on economic relations of countries is against the principle of free market.'

'Washington, in contradiction with its so called support for democracy, works completely against it and Iran is a clear example of this.'

'60 years ago, US toppled an elected government in Iran and supported a dictator for 25 years. When Iranians established a democratic regime with their Islamic revolution, US did everything to hinder the development of this democracy.'

'Syria is another country where US is working against its assertion about democracy. In the name of defending people of a country, US is imposing economic sanctions on Syria and has flooded arms into the country and supports terrorists.'

On relations between Iran and India, Jalili said the two countries' great capacities have made it possible to deepen relations.

'Iran and India have common interests and threats which require serious consultations and cooperation.'
