ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, February 20. Turkmenistan’s natural gas production reached 77.623 billion cubic meters in 2024, while oil production totaled 8.280 million tons, Trend reports.
The figures were announced during an extended session of the Cabinet of Ministers, chaired by President Serdar Berdymukhammedov.
Moreover, compared to the previous year, bitumen output increased by 10.2 percent, gasoline by 4.8 percent, fuel oil by 8.2 percent, and diesel fuel by 0.6 percent.
The president emphasized the need to adopt advanced technologies to expand the oil and gas sector’s production capacity, accelerate the development of the Galkynyş gas field, and speed up the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline, particularly the Serhetabat–Herat section.
He also highlighted the importance of developing new oil reserves, enhancing production at the Turkmenbashy and Seydi oil refineries, and advancing exploration efforts for hydrocarbons, rare minerals, and underground water. Additionally, the government is focused on improving workforce training in the industry.
