BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 20. The adoption of the Declaration on allied interaction between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation opened up new prospects for the development of the two countries, Russia’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov said at ‘Potential for economic cooperation development between Azerbaijan and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union’ seminar, held at the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) on April 20, Trend reports.
According to Bocharnikov, Azerbaijan and Russia are currently at a new stage of bilateral cooperation.
"We are watching economic progress in Azerbaijan with great interest. We got acquainted with information about the recent meeting chaired by President Ilham Aliyev, where the results of the country's economic development and tasks facing the government were discussed," the ambassador said.
The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Russia exceeded $405 million from January through February 2022.
Azerbaijani exports to Russia exceeded $123 million (an increase of 38 percent over the year) and imports from Russia - $282.3 million (an increase of 16 percent) during this period.
