Value added in Azerbaijan's transportation sector disclosed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 7. The value added created in Azerbaijan's transportation and warehousing sector amounted to 7.6 billion manat ($4.4 billion) in 2023, the report of the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers says, Trend reports.

The added value decreased in real terms by 9.9 percent in 2023 compared to the figure for 2022.

The report notes that in 2023 cargo transportation by all types of transport in Azerbaijan amounted to 230.2 million tons, which is 5.3 percent more than the figure for 2022, and passenger transportation in the reporting period exceeded 1.923 billion people, which is 18.7 percent more than the figure of the same period in 2022.

The information highlighted that 58.4 percent of all cargo was transported by road, 29.7 percent by pipeline, 7.9 percent by rail, 3.9 percent by sea, and 0.1 percent by air during the period. The majority of passengers (88.1 percent) were transported by motor transport, 11.4 percent - by subway and 0.5 percent - by other types of transport.
