Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have increased the volume of mutual trade by five times during four years, it approached the $1 billion mark a year, Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva said.
Narbaeva made the remark during a meeting with Speaker of the Kyrgyz parliament Talant Mamytov, Trend reports referring to the Uzbek media.
"The priority area is the trade and economic cooperation," Narbaeva said. "Over the past four years, the volume of mutual trade has grown fivefold and approached $1 billion."
The parties discussed the inter-parliamentary, trade and economic cooperation between the countries.
Narbaeva expressed readiness to actively interact within the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation and the Council of Heads of the Border Regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
In turn, Mamytov stressed that the countries were restoring the lost good-neighborly friendly relations.
Narbaeva also met with her Kazakh counterpart Maulen Ashimbaev.
These two countries do not need to restore friendship, relations are excellent, the trade turnover exceeded $3 billion in 2020.
