Iran appoints new ambassador to Turkmenistan

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif appointed Iran's new ambassador to Turkmenistan, Irna reported.

Seyyed Mohammad Ahmadi was appointed as Iran's new ambassador to Turkmenistan.

Ahmadi will replace the country's former envoy to the Central Asian country Hashemi Golpayegani.

The 59-year-old Ahmadi has PhD in international relations and he is one of directors of the foreign ministry.

In an exclusive interview with IRNA, Ahmadi called for the expansion of relations with Iran in all areas.

'One of the priorities of the government of wisdom and hope (President Hassan Rouhani's government) is the broadening of ties with the neighboring countries.

Ahmadi has served as international advisor to the interior minister, caretaker of Iranian embassy in Bahrain, Ilam governor-general and Fars governor-general.
