Iran's trade with Pakistan continues despite instability in Afghanistan

TEHRAN, Iran, Aug.30

Trend:

The Taliban rule in Afghanistan will not affect Iran and Pakistan trade, said a member of Iran and Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"The Taliban needs commodity supply from Iran, therefore I don't think it would cause tension in borders," said Mahmoud Tohidast.

"The Taliban situation is difficult and they need to provide for the needs of Afghanistan's 38 million population, therefore they have to provide their needs via border countries such as Iran and Pakistan," he added.

"In this regard, Iran's export to Afghanistan and Pakistan will not change, and perhaps export to Afghanistan might even increase a little but export to Pakistan would have its normal routine," he noted.

The increase of commodity price and foreign currency rate in Iran has increased the rial value of Iran's export to Pakistan compared to last Iranian year (started March 21, 2021).
