In the largest port of Georgia Poti, this year there is a decrease in cargo turnover, and in the port of Batumi, on the contrary - an increase, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Economy of Georgia.
The volume of cargo turnover in the ports of Georgia for 6 months of 2021 was:
• Port of Poti - 3.5 million tons, a decrease of 12.5 percent;
• Supsa Marine Terminal - 2.1 million tons, unchanged from the previous year;
• Batumi Sea Port - 1.8 million tons, an increase of 6 percent;
• Kulevi terminal - 0.9 million tons, unchanged compared to last year.
Along with the reduction in the total volume of cargo, this year the volume of container flows in the ports of Georgia has also decreased.
In total, from January through June 2021, container terminals received 203,808 containers, which is 63,743 containers (24 percent) less than a year earlier.
The port of Poti received 153,940 containers this year, which is 26 percent less than in the previous year. The Batumi port handled 49,868 containers, which is 18 percent less than a year earlier.
