Conflict between Iran and US is More than a Nuclear Problem: Ideologist of Iran Revolution

Azerbaijan, Baku, 29 February / corr. Trend D. Khatinoglu/ The dialogue between United States and Iran does not seem real in order to put an end to the 'cold war' between the two countries. "The conflict between Iran and United States is not just nuclear problem, but more that that," Sadeg Zibakalam, the ideologist of the Iran revolution said to Trend .

In a press conference on 28 February, the US President George Bush said that the dialogue and discussions between Iran and United States contradicts the interests of his country and the discussions with the official Tehran will be unproductive. According to IRNA agency of Iran, the foreign minister of Iran Manuchehr Mottaki said that besides the nuclear problem, there are more serious problems between Iran and US.

"Some 30 years have passed since the Iran revolution, and the contradictions between US and Iran have grown so severe that the establishment of dialogue on nuclear problem is not real," Zibakalam, the professor on political sciences of Tehran University said on a telephone on 29 February.

The official Tehran attacked the US Embassy in Iran after 1979 revolution and held the diplomats as hostages for 444 days, which ended up with breaking up off relations between the two countries. At present, the US is trying to stop the nuclear program of Iran by achieving the adoption of the resolution of the Security Council of UN against Iran.

According to Zibakalam, the contradictions between Iran and US have grown more severe due to the fact that Iran supported the resistance powers in Iraq, Palestine and Libya. "Due to US pressure , the nuclear documents of Iran were sent from International Atomic Energy Agency to the UN Security Council and as a result of which two resolutions were passed against that country. The resolutions against Iran did not end and will not end up either with the complete isolation and crisis of Iran. Many countries do not support the sanctions against Iran," he said.

According to BBC, Abdol Minti, the member of South Africa in UN said that he opposes the adoption of third resolution against Iran and stressed the danger of isolating the official Tehran from the world.

He said that not only South Africa, but also several UN Security non-permanent members, especially Libya, Vietnam, and Thailand are against the resolution. According to Zibakalam, all these countries will join the new sanctions against Iran under the influence of United States at the end.
