TRACECA meets in Romania

On Feb. 18, the Working Group of the TRACECA transport corridor launched a meeting in Bucharest, Romania. A range of meetings will be held through the support of the European Commission on Feb. 18-20.

The priorities of infrastructure to extending the trans-European transport networks to the Southern corridor, as well as opportunities and future projects, attractive of financing by private investors will be the subject of discussions. The problems of funding, cooperation in the framework of public-private partnerships and requirements for feasibility studies for these projects will also be reviewed.

TRACECA's new projects will be represented at the meeting - Marine mains for Black and Caspian Seas and Logistics centres for the CIS western countries and Caucasian countries.

Reforming the institutions of TRACECA projects related to the new role in the development of a south-easterly direction for expanding the trans-European transport networks to neighboring countries and regions will be reviewed. This is scheduled to give an effect to the decision adopted at the session of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA, which was held in the Jubilee Conference of Ministers of Transport in Baku on Dec. 4, 2008.
