Iran's Deputy Oil Minister Alireza Zeighami says the country has begun marketing plans for the imminent exportation of its gasoline, a report says.
Zeighami also expressed hope that four shipments of Iran's gasoline will be dispatched by March 20, Mehr news agency reported on Tuesday.
The Iranian official further pointed out that neighboring countries make Iran's top priorities, Press TV reported.
The National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) has issued a permit for the export of one billion liters of gasoline, the official added.
He also underlined that NIORDC has launched a department dedicated to the marketing and sale of the product.
Zeighami also said that a project to improve the quality of Iranian gasoline, including the reduction of sulfur and other pollutants in order to attain the Euro-5 standard is in the final stages. The project is aimed to facilitate the marketing process.
Commenting on the potential markets for the export of the Iranian gasoline, the Oil Ministry official said negotiations were underway for the exportation of various oil products to neighboring states, including Iraq.
Zeighami made a reference to the profitability of purchasing the Iranian gasoline and noted that the Oil Ministry also seeks to export other oil products such as diesel, kerosene and liquefied petroleum gas.
Earlier in February, Iranian Oil Minister Masoud Mirkazemi announced that Iran has become self-sufficient in the production of gasoline through the launch of new projects in its oil refineries.
