Baku to host session of Intergovernmental Council of CIS countries on construction

The next meeting of the 34th Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in the construction industry of the CIS countries will be held in Baku in the autumn.

This was stated in the report of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of Azerbaijan issued the day before. Council members are the heads of the national government construction bodies.

'The committee is working on preparations for the council meeting in Baku', the statement said.

The last meeting was held on June 5-6 in Minsk. During the meeting, the council considered and adopted decisions on the development of cooperation of the CIS countries in the construction industry, as well as to bring forward documents regulating the activities of the council in accordance with the general position of the organs of the CIS sectorial cooperation.

The Intergovernmental Council for Cooperation in the construction industry of the CIS countries was created in 1994 in accordance with joint policies and efforts to stabilise and further develop the construction and coordination of building systems of states which are parties to the Agreement.

Council meetings are held at least twice a year chaired by the host country. The 35th meeting of the council will be held in Moscow in May 2013.
