Volume of construction work increases by third in Azerbaijan per year

The volume of construction work increased by 30 percent to 378.1 million manat in Azerbaijan in January 2013 compared to January 2012, the State Statistics Committee said on Thursday.

Around 64.1 percent of the total volume of construction work fell to primary construction, reconstruction and expansion, 12.3 percent - overhaul, 4.3 percent - current repair, 19.3 percent - other construction work.

Around 94,900 people were involved in the Azerbaijani construction sector in 2012. The nominal salary in the construction sector amounted to 587.5 manat, which is 13.3 percent more than in the same period of last year.

The average salary in the state-owned companies amounted to 477.2 manat (increased by 18.7 percent per year), in private companies - 653.5 manat (increased by 8.3 percent).

The wage level in the field of building construction increased by 5.5 percent - to 557.8 manat, specialized construction (increased by 13.2 percent) - up to 710.9 manat, civil construction work - 43.6 percent - up to 500.1 manat.

The official exchange rate is 0.7847 AZN/USD on Feb. 22.
