ICCIMA shares data on Iran's trade of agricultural, food products

The value of Iran’s trade on agriculture and food products amounted to about $4.6 billion during the first three months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through June 21, 2021), Trend reports citing the statistics of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines & Agriculture (ICCIMA).

According to the statistics, about $1.2 billion of Iran's agricultural and food trade was accounted for exports and $3.4 billion for imports.

“Compared to the same period last Iranian year, the exports decreased by 1.1 percent in terms of value, while the imports increased by 34 percent within the 3 months,” the statistics said.

The share of agricultural and food products in Iran's total exports was 11.4 percent, while in Iran’s total imports was 32.8 percent, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, about 25,000 tons of pistachios worth $153 million (an increase of 26 percent), 619,000 tons of watermelons worth $139 million (an increase of 39.5 percent) and 156,000 tons of tomatoes worth $73 million were exported in the three months, which were the three main agricultural products exported. These products were mainly exported to Iraq, Afghanistan and the UAE. So, more than 53 percent of agricultural products were exported to these countries.

“In addition, 2 million tons of corn feed worth $644 million (an increase of 9.08 percent), 315,000 tons of vegetable oil worth $452 million (an increase of 421 percent) and 667,000 tons of soybeans worth $428 million were imported over the three months. Agricultural and food products were mainly imported from the UAE, Turkey and Switzerland. About 49 percent of these products were imported from these countries,” the statistics said.
