BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 11. Iran’s mobile phones imports decreased by 19 percent in value and 33 percent in number, during the first four months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Secretary of Iran’s Association of Importers of Mobile, Tablets and Accessories Amir Eshaqi told IRNA, Trend reports.

According to Eshaqi, a total of 4 million mobile phones worth $970 million were imported to Iran within the mentioned period.

“Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, Iran imported 6 million mobile phones worth $1.2 billion,” he added.

The secretary also pointed out that Iran imported about 240,000-260,000 mobile phones with a price of more than $600 each.

Eshaqi said that about 2.3 million of mobile phones imported to the country in 4 months have not yet been sold. About 30 percent of these are feature phones.

The official stressed that at present, Iran’s 1,200 companies have licenses to import mobile phones into the country. Of this, 350 companies imported mobile phones within 4 months.
