More than 500,000 tons of essential products were unloaded in the Shahid Rajaee port of the Hormozgan Province (southern Iran) from the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2021) to June 4, Director General of Ports and Maritime Department in Hormozgan Province Alireza Mohammadi said, Trend reports citing the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
Mohammadi said that these products are separate from the essential products transported through container and were brought to the port by 13 ships.
The director general added that the essential products unloaded in the port were mainly edible oils, rice, sugar, wheat and chemical fertilizers.
"In addition, a ship carrying 66,000 tons of raw sugar docked at the Shahid Rajaee port today on June 5. And the ship is currently being unloaded," he said.
As reported, the volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Shahid Rajaee port increased by 27 percent in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year. About 5.5 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in the port during the first month. So, 3.21 million tons of cargo were loaded and 2.29 million tons were unloaded.
