In cooperation with Pakistan, the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) is ready to implement the E-TIR Convention from Pakistan to Azerbaijan within the North-South Corridor, Spokesman for the IRICA Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.
According to Latifi, Iran can also implement the E-TIR Convention from Pakistan to Turkey within the East-West Corridor.
The official added that Iran has implemented the E-TIR convention for the first time with Turkey and Azerbaijan by creating the necessary infrastructure.
“The Economic Cooperation Organization's (ECO) Istanbul-Tehran-Islamabad corridor was opened with the pilot shipment of truck tires, fabric cargo from the Pakistani city of Karachi to Istanbul via Iran. The trucks left the Karachi this week and entered Iran last night through the Mirjaveh border checkpoint in the Sistan and Baluchestan (south-eastern Iran),” he said.
The spokesman noted that the trucks will pass through Iran and enter Turkey through the Bazargan border checkpoint in the West Azerbaijan Province (north-western Iran).
