Iranian Customs Administration spokesman Ruhollah Latifi announced the import of 109 tons of serum into the country through the Bazargan border, Trend reports via IRNA.
"This amount of serum will enter the country tomorrow (August 12) on 12 trucks,” Latifi said.
He went on to say that the trucks will reach the Ministry of Health, bypassing the warehouses at the customs.
Latifi noted that serum donated by the World Health Organization were cleared from customs and handed over to the responsible authorities in the shortest possible time.
According to IRNA, amid the fifth wave coronavirus outbreaks in Iran, the country faced extreme shortage of some medicinal items such as serum.
In the last seven months, 21 million doses of coronavirus vaccine have been imported into Iran.
