(ForUm) - Health Minister Yuri Polyachenko met with US Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor to discuss cooperation program among the Health Ministry and US public organizations. The cooperation involves equipping bird flu control labs in South Ukraine, launching a joint project on creation of a blood service and construction of a blood processing plant and holding information campaigns with participation of public organizations. Health Minister Yuri Polyachenko said at a news briefing after his meeting with William Taylor, Cabinet press office reported.
Yuri Polyachenko stated his gratitude to the US Government for resuming financing by the World Bank and an opportunity to obtain a grant of the Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, reports Trend.
In turn, William Taylor stated that the USA pleasurably cooperates with the Health Ministry.
Answering questions by journalists on agreements, reached on launch of joint project on creation of a new blood service, Yuri Polyachenko noted that the meeting involved discussion of technical and experts' aid, meant to be provided by the USA. We are enabled to create a working group to select those projects, which are likely to be fulfilled in Ukraine. These projects can be both of investment and crediting character, the Health Minister stressed. Ukraine spends immense funds for acquisition of medicaments, so, we would like to produce them in Ukraine.
