Other Three Candidates for Membership to Council for State Support of NGOs Elected in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 March / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The other three candidates for membership to the Council for State Support of NGOs were elected. They are Rana Mirzazadeh, Chairman of the Public Association 'Gender research and human rights', Sevinch Muradova, Chairman of Child and Youth Association 'Nur', and Gulara Teymurova, Chairman of Public Association 'Dan'.

Under a decree by the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev from 13 December 2007, the Council for State Support of NGOs was created. Eleven members will be represented in the Council at the Presidential Administration. NGOs are divided into eight groups and three candidates will be elected from each group (in total 24 candidates). The President will appoint eight members of the Council. Three members will represent State departments. Six candidates for membership in the Council were elected.

Three candidates from NGOs were elected to the Council on 11 March. Today, NGO representatives, engaged in protection of rights of family, woman and children, became candidates.

Mirzazadeh collected 17 votes, Muradova - 11 and Teymurova - 11. The Azerbaijani President will appoint one of the candidates to membership of the Council.
