ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 25. The location for the construction of the nuclear power plant has been officially approved in Kazakhstan, Trend reports
The Kazakh government has published a resolution, which was adopted on December 30, 2024, and came into effect today.
"The nuclear power plant will be built, as previously planned, in the Zhambyl district of the Almaty region," the resolution reads.
Meanwhile, President Tokayev instructed to accelerate the
construction of the nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan. The Ministry
of Energy announced that the country needs at least three nuclear
power plants.
The vendors for Kazakhstan's nuclear power plant will be selected
taking into account national interests.
On October 6, 2024, a referendum was held in Kazakhstan regarding the construction of a nuclear power plant in the country. As many as 71.12 percent of Kazakh citizens voted in favor. The voter turnout was 63.66 percent.
