Export of defence and aerospace industry products by Turkey increased by 51.8 percent in January-October 2012 compared to the same period of 2011 and amounted to one billion dollars. Turkish Directory of Defence and Aviation Industry Suppliers said in a report on its website on Monday.
In January-October 2011, these products were exported in the amount of $661 million.
The report states that by late 2012, Turkey will increase export of products of defence and aerospace industry up to $1.5 billion.
Most of the exports in January-October 2012 accounted for the USA. During this period, exports to the United States amounted to $396 million. The U.S. is followed by Saudi Arabia - $84 million.
During the reporting period, export of defence-related products to Iraq sharply increased. In January-October 2012, products worth $31 million were exported to the country compared to one million dollars during the reporting period of 2011.
