Kyrgyzstan discloses production of coal for 2022

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 3. Kyrgyzstan produced 3.6 million tons of coal and brown coal (lignite) in 2022, Trend reports via the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan.

In comparison, Kyrgyzstan’s production of coal and brown coal (lignite) amounted to 3 million in 2021.

The largest share of coal and lignite was produced in the Naryn region of Kyrgyzstan. The production volume amounted to 1.7 million tons in 2022, which is an increase of 1.3 times over 1.2 million in 2021.

The second place in the terms of the production of coal and brown coal (lignite) belongs to the Osh region of the country. The volume of the production of the region reached 971,500 tons last year, which is an increase, compared to 875,200 tons in 2021.

In the reporting period, the volume of coal and brown coal (lignite) production in the Batken region made up 765,200 tons, increasing by over 654,900 tons in 2021.

Furthermore, the volume of coal and lignite production in the Jalal-Abad region of the country made up 191,700 tons, decreasing from 264,500 tons in 2021.

Meanwhile, the total value of industrial production in Kyrgyzstan reached 426 billion soms ($4.9 billion) in 2022, increasing by 11.4 percent, compared to the same period in 2021.

In the reporting period, the growth of Kyrgyzstan's production was registered in the production of base metals, wood products and paper products, petroleum products, food products (including drinks) and tobacco products, and extraction of minerals.
