TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, October 20. Representatives of industry and trade of the Chinese Dongguan city are interested in investing in the production of artificial leather in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.
The matter was discussed during the meeting between Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Uzcharmsanoat leather and footwear association Fahriddin Boboev and representatives of Chinese Dongguan Shenfeng New Material and Guandong Shenfeng Eco Technology companies.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the expansion of trade and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the city of Dongguan in the field of leather and footwear, as well as the opening of joint ventures and the exchange of experience in the textile industry.
The heads of both companies expressed interest in implementing an investment project for the production of artificial leather with Uzbek entrepreneurs.
As per the companies’ managers, there is a high demand for the production of this type of product in Uzbekistan today.
As per data provided by Uzbekistan's State Statistics Committee, the country has exported about 5.7 million pairs of shoes worth $10.2 million from January through March 2023.
Uzcharmsanoat plans to increase the volume of leather and footwear production up to 18.6 trillion soums ($1.6 billion) by 2026.
