Baku, Azerbaijan, July 25

By Khalid Kazimov – Trend:

A European firm is expected to put about 750 million euros worth of investment to develop Iran’s optical fibers, Iranian ICT Minister Mahmoud Vaezi said.

The minster did not name the European firm which is going to ink the deal but said that luring the foreign investment to the country is a positive outcome of the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA aka nuclear deal), IRNA news agency reported.

In the meantime, the nuclear accord has paved the way for transferring new technologies to the country, he added.

The minister had earlier said that eight large cities in Iran would be connected to the country’s optical fiber grid after the investment is attracted.

According to Vaezi, Iran’s internet bandwidth capacity has already reached 10,000 gigabits per second.
