In 2013, joint work with Russia on construction of nuclear power plants in Kazakhstan will begin, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev said after signing of Russian-Kazakh agreements on Thursday.
Head of Rosatom (Russian nuclear energy state corporation) Sergey Kiriyenko told reporters at a briefing on Thursday that until late 2012, Russian and Kazakh experts during the negotiations will determine the type of the reactor and its location.
"As President Nazarbayev said, the matter is the newest type, taking into account the lessons of Fukushima," Kiriyenko said.
