BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 31. Azerbaijan is taking active steps to expand the capacity of East-West and North-South corridors, the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov said during his speech at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Almaty, Trend reports.
“We traditionally attach great importance to cooperation in the transport and transit sphere. The international transport corridors East-West and North-South pass through Azerbaijan. We have ensured the successful functioning of all components of these transportation routes through our territory,” he said.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the cargo flow through the territory of Azerbaijan is growing at a steady pace.
“Last year, the volume of transit traffic increased by 8 percent. We are taking active steps to expand the capacity of the above-mentioned corridors, considering the dynamics of cargo traffic growth. We have gained great potential and solid experience for increased cooperation with our partners and members of the EAEU in all directions. Azerbaijan is ready to continue making all necessary efforts for this purpose,” Ali Asadov added.
