Azerbaijan, Baku, June 22 / Trend , J. Babayeva/

Development of trade and economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Pakistan will be discussed at the fifth meeting of the inter-governmental commission on economic cooperation in autumn in Baku, official at the Azerbaijani embassy in Islamaba Sabir Rzayev said.

A wide range of bilateral cooperation issues will be discussed at the meeting. This will be the first meeting of the commission after the formation of the new government of Pakistan.

Particular attention will be attached to increasing trade turnover between the two countries, which amounted to $4.7 million in January-April 2009.

Today, the level of economic ties has markedly below the level of partnership in the political and humanitarian spheres. This is due to some objective reasons, including lack of direct flights. Intergovernmental Commission will examine the prospects for the opening of direct flights.
