KAZAN, Russia, October 24. Turkmenistan pays attention to the climate agenda, which will determine the development of humanity in the current century, the country's President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said at the first plenary session of the XVI BRICS Plus summit in Kazan today, Trend reports.

"We advocate for a systematic approach to climate issues as an integral part of global security, with the establishment of mechanisms for monitoring and responding to climate, ecological, and technological disasters," the head of state also said.

Moreover, the president emphasized the priority of protecting the natural resources of Central Asia for Turkmenistan.

"In the field of ecological cooperation, Turkmenistan places paramount importance on the protection of the natural resources of Central Asia, the marine environment of the Caspian Sea, and the rational use of water resources based on the interests of all partners and the norms of international law," added Berdimuhamedov.

To note, the plenary session of the XVI BRICS summit is taking place in the capital of Tatarstan. The meeting is attended by leaders of the CIS countries, delegations from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America, as well as heads of executive bodies of a number of international organizations.
