KAZAN, Russia, October 24. Turkmenistan, as a responsible state, offers several initiatives to normalize the international situation and develop constructive interaction, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov said at the first plenary session of the XVI BRICS Plus summit in Kazan today, Trend reports.
"Our country has put forward several proposals, including the development of a global security strategy, granting neutral states the status of priority partners of the UN in peacekeeping efforts, and creating and strengthening of regional security to the UN.
One of the most significant events in this context was the unanimous adoption by the UN General Assembly of Turkmenistan's initiative to declare 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust. We hope that all countries will actively participate in the implementation of the provisions of this resolution," said the head of state.
Furthermore, the president highlighted that Turkmenistan actively supports the efforts of the international community aimed at strengthening cooperation, mutual respect, and consideration of the interests of all parties.
"Our neutral status is used to promote the peacekeeping agenda, ensure global and regional security, and strengthen interstate relations based on equal dialogue, trust, and predictability.
A key element of Turkmenistan's foreign policy is the use of neutrality and preventive diplomacy to prevent conflicts and eliminate their root causes. We are convinced that the principles of neutrality are especially in demand today and can play an important role in ensuring regional and global security with the support of the world community," added Berdimuhamedov.
To note, the plenary session of the XVI BRICS summit is taking place in the capital of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation. The meeting is attended by leaders of the CIS countries, delegations from Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America, as well as heads of executive bodies of a number of international organizations.
