KAZAN, Russia, October 24. Turkmenistan is actively promoting the development of a global program for transitioning to a circular economy, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said at the first plenary session of the XVI BRICS Plus summit in Kazan, Trend reports.

"Turkmenistan is currently leading the way in the development of sustainable transportation, energy, and economics. The development of a global program for the transition to a circular economy, the establishment of an alliance for global energy security and sustainable development, and the creation of a global atlas for sustainable transport connectivity are among these goals," the head of state noted.

The president also put his cards on the table, highlighting the country’s proactive role in tackling global challenges head-on.

"Turkmenistan's international strategy is rooted in the country's engagement with contemporary geo-economic trends and active participation in solving global issues such as sustainable development, overcoming food and environmental crises, and ensuring equal access to energy, clean water, and air," Berdimuhamedov said.

To note, the plenary session of the XVI BRICS summit is taking place in the capital of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation. The meeting is attended by leaders of the CIS countries, delegations from Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America, as well as heads of executive bodies of a number of international organizations.
