BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. The Azerbaijani Parliament has condemned the biased resolution passed by the European Parliament, Trend reports.

In a statement, the Azerbaijani Parliament discussed the resolution they passed on October 24, 2024.

“We have reviewed the resolution titled ‘On the situation in Azerbaijan, violation of human rights and international law and relations with Armenia.’

The institution, which positions itself as a representative of European parliamentarism, continues to attack our country while ignoring the pressing issues on the continent,” the statement noted.

The statement highlighted that European parliamentarians have consistently overlooked the three-decade-long Armenian occupation of Azerbaijani territory, as well as the destruction of cities and villages. The widespread devastation and appropriation of Azerbaijan's historical, religious, and cultural heritage, as well as the rights of over a million compatriots suffering as refugees and forced migrants, have not garnered their attention.

“They have also failed to accept Azerbaijan's efforts to maintain its territorial integrity and sovereignty following the 44-day Patriotic War and subsequent anti-terror operations conducted in September 2023, as well as the independent fulfillment of international law norms and principles.

It appears the European Parliament has chosen to reveal its anti-Azerbaijani stance in a stark manner. The resolution's text compiles various topics and pressure tactics from interested groups opposing Azerbaijan into a single document.

The resolution presents a collection of claims based on disinformation along with unfounded accusations, threats, and demands. It demonstrates an open disregard for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty while also attempting to interfere in its internal affairs. Furthermore, it exhibits an alarming bias by showing special concern for Armenia, encouraging its military buildup, and thus fostering revanchist tendencies that could reignite regional conflict.

Notably absent from the resolution are any references to the reconstruction efforts in liberated areas, the return of displaced persons to their homes, or the clearing of mines laid by Armenia—issues that profoundly affect countless lives. This omission underscores the document's one-sidedness and bias. The framing of individuals accused of crimes against peace as prisoners of war has sparked outrage.

The European Parliament's stance also reflects a hostile attitude toward Azerbaijan’s initiatives aimed at promoting peace, stability, and cooperation both regionally and globally. The politicization and use of significant issues like climate change as tools for accusations against Azerbaijan is troubling.

Overall, this resolution demonstrates the depth of anti-Azerbaijani, Turkophobic, and Islamophobic sentiments, which sacrifice established values and principles to further questionable agendas.

We can confidently assess this resolution as a reflection of the deep-rooted corruption and bribery prevalent in the European Parliament. This resolution, which is based on false narratives from France, Armenia, and its lobbyists, essentially functions as a payment for the material gains received.

Another troubling aspect is the prevalence of chauvinistic, racist, and colonial thinking within the European Parliament. European parliamentarians label nations fighting against colonialism as irredentist groups while justifying France's colonial policies as part of European politics. It is likely that those suffering from colonialism will have a clearer understanding of who impedes their quest for freedom and independence.

The only conclusion from this European Parliament resolution directed against our country is that the independent policy pursued under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which serves the national and sovereign interests of our country, raises serious concerns for some. However, they tend to overlook the fact that pressure and ultimatums cannot effectively address Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani Parliament firmly rejects the distorting, unobjective, and one-sided resolution of the European Parliament. We assert that our parliament unequivocally supports the policy being implemented to protect our country and people's interests, mobilizing all resources for its realization,” the statement reads.
