KAZAN, Russia, October 24. Uzbekistan intends to establish close cooperation with the BRICS New Development Bank to implement priority investment and social projects, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the first plenary session of the 16th BRICS Plus summit in Kazan, Trend reports.

“We intend to more actively deepen partnership ties with the BRICS states and more effectively utilize the new opportunities opening up within the framework of this association. We share the fundamental commitment of the BRICS countries to develop cooperation to address the problems of worsening global inequality and inclusive economic recovery. This means, first and foremost, supporting the national programs of developing countries aimed at overcoming acute social and environmental challenges, reducing poverty, narrowing the technological gap, and modernizing infrastructure. Multilateral financial institutions can and should play an important role in this,” he said.

According to the President, Uzbekistan is also interested in expanding cooperation with BRICS member states in such areas as innovation, digital economy, green development, energy, and barrier-free e-commerce.

"We anticipate participating in collaborative projects with BRICS group researchers on artificial intelligence, with the aim of approving potential risks and developing common management standards in this field. He added, "We are prepared to participate in the proposed investment platform and the BRICS Competence Center at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization," Mirziyoyev added.

To note, BRICS is an intergovernmental organization established in 2006. Russia assumed the BRICS chairmanship on January 1, 2024. Currently, in addition to Russia, Brazil, India, China, and South Africa, the members of the organization are Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
