ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 24. Turkmenistan plans to increase natural gas supplies to Uzbekistan, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Batyr Amanov said at the plenary session “The Latest Trends in the Global Energy Markets and Prospects for Mutually Beneficial Cooperation” within the framework of the international conference and exhibition “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2024” (OGT 2024) in Ashgabat, Trend reports via Turkmengaz State Concern.

Amanov noted that Turkmenistan also plans to start supplies to Iraq, which confirms the country's desire to expand its energy partnerships and enter new markets.

He emphasized the strategic importance of the construction of the TAPI (Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India) gas pipeline, which has become an important step for the entire region. TAPI will stretch 1,800 kilometers and will ensure the transportation of Turkmen natural gas from Afghanistan and Pakistan to India. This project opens new perspectives for energy cooperation, strengthens energy security, and contributes to the diversification of energy sources in the participating countries.

Turkmenistan has some of the world's largest hydrocarbon reserves, estimated at 71 billion tons of oil equivalent, including more than 50 trillion cubic meters of natural gas. The country ranks fourth in the world in terms of proven gas reserves, yielding only to Russia, Iran, and Qatar.

To note, the forum "Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan - 2024" (OGT 2024) is an international platform that brings together leading national and international oil and gas companies, as well as industry experts and financial institutions. The main goal of the event is to strengthen the dialog on sustainable development of the energy sector and attract investments in the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan. The forum will discuss the prospects of field development, modernization of processing facilities, as well as the introduction of advanced technologies and environmental aspects of hydrocarbon production.
