BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 5. President Donald Trump has signed a National Security Presidential Memorandum (NSPM) aimed at reinstating maximum pressure on Iran, blocking its path to nuclear weapons, and countering its influence abroad, Trend reports.

The directive outlines key objectives, including preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles, dismantling its terrorist networks, and curbing its military capabilities. It also instructs the Treasury Department to enforce stringent economic sanctions, targeting individuals and entities that violate U.S. restrictions.

The Secretary of State will modify or revoke existing sanctions waivers and coordinate efforts to reduce Iran’s oil exports to zero. Meanwhile, the U.S. envoy to the United Nations will work with allies to restore international sanctions.

Domestically, the Attorney General has been tasked with prosecuting Iranian-linked financial and operational networks, as well as pursuing the arrest and extradition of members of Iran-backed terrorist groups responsible for harming American citizens.
