BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. Works on measuring wind potential in Lachin and Kalbajar districts have started, the Director of the State Agency of Renewable Energy Sources (AREA) under the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan Javid Abdullayev said at an event at the Baku Shipyard dedicated to the delivery of turbine blades of the Khizi-Absheron wind power plant to Baku, Trend reports.
He noted that there is sufficient solar and wind energy potential in the territories liberated from occupation.
“This is the solar potential of Zangilan, Jabrayil, and the wind potential of Kalbajar, Lachin. As is known, we are working very intensively with bp on the construction of the Shafag solar power plant. Work is also underway to create a special infrastructure.
At the same time, I would like to note that works on measuring wind potential in Lachin and Kalbajar districts have already started. Special measuring stations have been built. The specificity is that the measurement process should be carried out during the year so that it is possible to submit certain commercial proposals on this basis,” Abdullayev said.
