BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 24. The development of Iran's relationship with Russia may serve as a blueprint for enhancing connections between Iran and Belarus, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said at a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko at the BRICS summit in Kazan, Trend reports.

Pezeshkian noted that discussions with the Russian President included the strategic international North-South corridor. A series of comprehensive agreements is expected to be signed during an upcoming return visit to Russia.

The head of state emphasized that independent nations can resist sanctions imposed by the United States.

President Lukashenko also extended an invitation to President Pezeshkian to visit Belarus during the meeting.

"Belarus is ready to accelerate the implementation of agreements reached with Iran. The two countries have immense and diverse potential for developing relations, and Belarus is willing to exchange experiences mutually," he said.

Lukashenko added that the launch of the North-South corridor would positively impact access for businesses and producers to the markets of both nations.

BRICS is an intergovernmental organization created in 2006. Russia assumed the chairmanship of BRICS on January 1, 2024. Currently, members of the organization, in addition to Russia, are Brazil, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia.
